Tempting Fate (Serendipity, #2) by Brinda Berry (Goodreads Author)

Tempting Fate by Brinda Berry

When two worlds collide, it can only be fate.

Collin knows trouble when he sees it. A beautiful girl crashing into his car? She should be flashing a neon DANGER sign. He knows better than to get involved with a fresh-faced babe who could break his already-tattered heart. After graduating from college, he’s on track to start over in a new place. He’s discovering what he wants from life, away from the shadow of his overbearing father and the betrayal of his cheating ex-fiancé.

Veronica’s home life morphs from trailer park to homeless after a bloody fight between her brother and her ex. She’s on the run from a situation that promises to be deadly. Without a home, money, or friends, she’s at Collin’s mercy.

Fate brought them together. Will a secret from her past tear them apart?

According to me a Prologue or the 1st Chapter of a book is THE reflection – SO it must capture my attention from page 1 I will continue a few more chapters to give the Book a fair chance to change my mind!

Chapter 1
OKAY I must say I can do review on the first chapter only WOW what a first chapter!

Colin –

Call me the king of precaution. I’ve always taken meticulous care with my relationships, my work-even the mundane tasks. But precautions are like vitamins. You can take them all you want, and you still might get the bird flu.

Of course, precaution doesn’t matter when a car hits me from behind and delivers a morning cocktail of chaos and crunching metal.

When I make it to the car behind me, I’m not a bit surprised to discover it’s a woman.

The blond chick stares through the glass, her clear blue eyes wary.

“Are you okay?” I grab the door handle to find it’s locked.

Lol – that Bird Flu sentence sold this book for me!

I see a woman on the side of the road. A person walking unusual sight this far from the city. My brain clicks with a recognition that ignites my dormant temper.

I drive past her and gawk. It’s the driver from the morning. She got a hitchhikers thumb out.

I wonder if she’ll turn and make a run for it when she realizes it’s me. She’s still walking her head slightly turned down as if she’s watching her feet. Five, four, three, two… and she lifts her head. Her stride falters.

O step out of the car and wait, arms folded, as she stares at me.

“Well, we meet again.”

Phil Collins “Against All Odds”

Type of Characters and my choices according to pictures :

Veronica – trust issues but a strong female lead character

Colin Cordova, a reliable character, taking care of what is his! A rich guy with a tattoo yum-wink and my hero and new bb!

Chapter Development

Veronica – running – a past she wants to forget about! Then she meets Colin I think every lady must meet a Colin when in dire straits.

He is like the super hero type and oh man I loved him from chapter 1

Almost Paradise – Mike Reno & Ann Wilson

I can’t wait to find this homeless shelter and let him get on with his day. He’s a nice guy… a little bizarre with the crumbs comment, but we all have our quirks. He’d be wise to get rid of me and my trouble fast. My eye twitches at the thought.

I am huge crumb.

But the hero that Collin is, he lets Veronica stay over his place with his other two roommates. The one night turns and Veronica is staying longer than planned with Collin, and amazingly he wants her stay.

I couldn’t stop reading I needed to know Veronica’s next move and it was not slow passed it moved pretty quickly, and the poor girl has so much that she has to hide – my heart broke for her in portions of this novel!

Relationship development

From chapter Collin is attracted to Veronica – angry but still attracted to her. Collin has to put in lots of effort that Veronica opens up to him, and he tries to make her see she can be his friend and he will be her friend in return.

The attraction is mutual between both parties, but Veronicas secrets make it difficult to trust and love.

Collin had a bad breakup with is ex cheating fiance – so this makes trusting new love for him difficult.
