Okay, guys. I just couldn’t get my mind straight after I read Six of Crows, and this never happened to me before anyway. This book is fucking insane ! The second half totally wrecked me and shredded my sanity into pieces. Honestly, first 50% of this book sucks, I gotta say this because I nearly gave it up after many struggles I’d tried to beat; therefore, I stopped reading for two days and came back to it again eventually for I wanted to know why people love Six of Crows and adore them like a god. I got an answer from the latter part after all. This book moved me to the point I want to scream and make a plea for it to stop, my heart couldn’t carry its weight anymore. But they went on and on and showed me no mercy, and I freaking loved it (Am I a masochist ?). So 6 stars for the last part alone.
And forget about The Grisha trilogy, this book is far better than those three books altogether.
Kaz, a theif, a murderer, a schemer, or whoever he wants to be, is not the only character to be focused on. His crews are very outstanding in their unique ways, especially Matthias, I really liked him because he’s like a big puppy to me. I want to cuddle him when he’s not sure about his feeling toward Nina, a Grisha girl. She’s an enemy to his country but vibrations to his heart. I’m soooo happy when they debate each other, and the ending is a real heartbreaking story to me. As I’m writing this review, I definitely want to cry for Kaz and Matthias. Don’t let them !
“When everyone knows you’re a monster, you needn’t waste time doing every monstrous thing.”
I was thrilled all the time as they break into the Ice Court, and when their plans failed, I felt like my brain was beaten with a baseball bat. Oh Kaz, c’mon ! I knew you have something up your sleeves, don’t let them rot in hell ! The moment Kaz stands up and says he actually has a plan, I stood up for him and danced like…
I loved Matthias and Nina’s romance, I was about to cry because of them. By the way, Kaz and Inej’s is good but not as good as M&N. Oh ! Did I talk about Jesper and Wylan ? You know, I can see some bromance between them, too.
“Kaz leaned back. “What’s the easiest way to steal a man’s wallet?”
“Knife to the throat?” asked Inej.
“Gun to the back?” said Jesper.
“Poison in his cup?” suggested Nina.
“You’re all horrible,” said Matthias.”
Highly recommended for those who love the book about a heist like Mission impossible + Pirate of the Carribbean.
